Bengt B. Arnetz is a tenured Professor in Family and Preventive Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. Dr. Arnetz holds MD and PhD degrees from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Epidemiology from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts. He is a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Dr. Arnetz research addresses the etiology, behavioral and psychophysiological disease mechanisms of stressor-related disorders in populations exposed to extreme psychosocial and environmental stress, including forcible displaced persons, socioeconomically strained, and law enforcement personnel. Much of Dr. Arnetz research concerns rigorously controlled community-based and participatory intervention studies addressing social determinants of health and disease-relevant pathways.
