Dr. Honein-AbouHaidar is Associate Professor at Hariri School of Nursing, American University of Beirut. She is also a co-director of the Refugee Health Program at the Global Health Institute and a qualitative researcher consultant at the Clinical Research Institute.

Her main research and scholarship focus on improving community health with a strong focus on primary health care system improvement and its impact on health outcomes especially for under-privileged population. She works closely with researchers from different disciplines on identifying community needs underpinned by the principles of equity, inclusiveness and participatory in order to improve the quality of health in the community.  She employs her qualitative research skills to generate the critical knowledge needed to advance policy change.
