Dr. Hassan Fehmi, is currently the Service Chief of Nephrology & Hypertension at the Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Born and raised in Lebanon, he received his Medical Education at the Baghdad University College of Medicine and completed Residency Training in Internal Medicine at the Michigan State University Program. After finishing a fellowship in Nephrology & Hypertension at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago Dr. Fehmi moved to Detroit to join the faculty of Henry Ford Hospital as a Senior Staff Physician in the Department of Medicine. His academic interests and work include Home Dialysis Modalities, the Mineral and Bone Disorders in Chronic Kidney Disease, Telemedicine and Connected Health, and the application of the Lean methodologies in healthcare.
Dr. Fehmi serves on several committees and boards within and outside the Henry Ford Health System and is involved in various initiatives ranging from scientific and research projects, to Diversity in the workplace and community outreach. He is a member of the Board of Directors at Eversight International, the Medical Advisory Board of Greenfield Health Systems, the Advisory Board of the Michigan National Kidney Foundation, and he chairs the Henry Ford Middle Eastern Employees Resource Group.
Dr. Fehmi is actively engaged in several professional societies and organizations, he is a Fellow of the National Kidney Foundation, and a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology. As a longtime member of the National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA), He served in different positions; a former Chapter President, a National Vice President, a former chair of the Liaison Committee for Arab America, the Scientific Committee Chair, and the organization’s former CME Director. He also chaired and co-chaired several NAAMA national and international conferences and Symposia. Dr. Fehmi has been involved on numerous past occasions and in various capacities with the ACCESS Conference on Health Issues in Arab Communities, and with Global Health Research Management & Solutions both nationally and internationally.
Dr Fehmi is a podcaster, his podcast “Arab American Café” is highly ranked, attracting worldwide audience.
