Dr. John Zervos, Henry Ford Health Global Health initiative, USA

John Zervos is the founding Executive Director of the Henry Ford Health Global Health Initiative (GHI). John is responsible for overall initiative strategy, management, and operations. His work focuses on establishing and sustaining mutually beneficial international and domestic partnerships with ministries of health, hospitals, and universities and securing funding to support global activities. John has led strategic growth of the initiative from a $75,000 gift in 2014 into a division with a multi-million-dollar annual budget with activities across the globe. During this period, GHI has secured over $50,000,000 in grants and donations and has extended Henry Ford Health’s commitment to corporate social responsibility globally. The work of the initiative has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals, presented at over 100 conferences, and featured extensively in local and national media. During the COVID-19 pandemic, John undertook numerous leadership roles including the standing-up of testing centers, overseeing COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial sites and leading community and mobile vaccination work for Henry Ford Health. John was awarded the Crain’s Detroit 2021 Rising Star in Healthcare for his work during the pandemic. John received his JD from Wayne State University (2012) after obtaining his bachelor’s degree from New York University (2008). Outside of work, John serves on the Board of Directors of the Ruth Ellis Center and the HOPE Foundation.
