Dr. Károly Mirnics, University of Nebraska Medical Center

Károly Mirnics is the Director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) and Hattie B. Munroe Professor at University of Nebraska Medical Center. He holds MD and PhD degrees and leads one of the oldest and most comprehensive intellectual and developmental disability centers in the world. He is an elected member of Special Olympics International (SOI) board of directors and chairs the SOI Medical Advisory Committee. Dr. Mirnics is a federally funded researcher, educator, and community activist, working tirelessly to transform the lives of individuals with IDD and their families. In his free time, he enjoys reading and fishing, and he is an avid chess player.
