Dr. Katie Willet, University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA

Dr. Willet is a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician, Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director for Emergency Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She has backgrounds and experiences in medical education and simulation, austere medicine, disaster medicine and health security. Outside of her typical role as an Emergency Medicine Physiican, she also fills many other roles, including Assistant Medical Director for the National Quarantine Unit at UNMC and the Health Security Fellowship Program Director. She has been the key developer of Health Security design and curriculum as an emerging area of medicine. She has been involved in many ongoing projects at Davis Center for Global Health Security especially the ISTARI unit and USPHS biosecurity training simulation and is a Global Scholar due to this work. Her experiences both in the frontlines of the pandemic in the emergency department and involvement in healthcare and health-system preparedness brings a hands-on perspective to projects. In addition, she is engaged in frequent medical student and resident education and training, especially in large simulation training: including scenarios such as biocontainment, wilderness/austere medicine, EMS and disaster management.
