My name is Luis Zavala Arciniega; I graduated as Medicine Doctor in 2007. I studied medicine in Cuba. My background in medicine catalyzes my desire to study public health. To develop my public health research skills, I started the Master of Science in Epidemiology at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) of Mexico in 2013. In this stage, I studied population strategies for controlling NCDs, expanding my knowledge of methods to examine social determinants of health, including conceptual and statistical approaches to analyzing multilevel effects on public health problems. Currently, I am Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan. My research has focused on identifying the social determinants of tobacco use among Mexicans and the evaluation of the impact of tobacco control policies in Mexico and the U.S.
I am also focused on Long-COVID research. Mainly, I am leading an analysis to describe Neurological symptoms among participants with long COVID and the associated sociodemographic disparities.
More than 30 peer-reviewed publications support my research trajectory.
