Marcus J. Zervos, M.D., is Division Head, Infectious Diseases, Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. He is also Assistant Dean, Global Affairs and Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Zervos area of practice and research is in epidemiology, control of hospital related infections and public health. He has recognized experience and is an active independent researcher, teacher, administrator, epidemiologist and clinician. His career has been devoted to study of antibiotic resistance in S aureus and enterococcus. He coordinates Global Health projects in both communicable and non communicable disease to build sustainable capacity in low income settings in multiple countries worldwide. He also coordinates projects to assist vulnerable populations in the US, including working closely with health departments in COVID-19 response. He has been the recipient of several million dollars in grant awards, with continuous federal funding for the last 38 years. He was awarded the CDC, James H. Nakano Citation and Charles C. Shepard Science Awards for work with resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and American College of Physicians Laureate award. He has contributed over 580 published abstracts at national and international scientific meetings and has published over 410 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
