Dr Mohammed Abid serves as the Head of the research department at Pasteur Institute of Morocco in Tangier and postgraduate researcher in the field of infectious disease and molecular biology diagnosis tools. Graduate from the University of Mohammed V in Rabat and recruited at Pasteur Institute of Morocco in 1994 as a researcher and project manager.
I established the research department and projects on infectious diseases at the Pasteur Institute of Morocco in Tangier in 2002. Since 2004, my activities are Head of the Genetic Mycobacteria laboratory, Teaching Infectious Diseases for the Physicians of Health Ministry, Organizing meetings and training on emergent diseases in Morocco for private physicians in North Morocco, Project manager ” Molecular Diagnostics of salmonella Morocco” at Universita di Siena, Sassary, Italy, Project manager “Tuberculosis and Immigration” John Hopkins University, USA, Project manager ” First « made in morocco » rapid molecular assay for M.tuberculosis resistant strains” with private Moroccan foundation for advanced sciences, innovation, and research, Rabat, Morocco, an event organizer for training on biosafety and biorisk management. And a university Teacher of Microbiology, Epidemiology, and Molecular Biology. Since 2014, I have been the institutional Biosafety Officer for the Pasteur Institute of Morocco and had the mission of implementing BRM in his Institute. I am certified in biosafety and biosecurity and a certified trainer By CDC Africa on high containment laboratories certification. I am also a member of the Moroccan CBRN team that wrote the first “Moroccan CBRN plan” in 2014. I am also a member of the North African trainer with Sandia laboratories.
I have been a BRM-certified professional in biosecurity and biosafety since 2016 IFBA and a certified trainer on “high containment laboratories” from CDC Africa since 2022.
