Ms. Mona Makki, ACCESS, USA

Mona Makki is Director of the ACCESS Community Health and Research Center. An impassioned proponent of rights for underserved members of the community, Mona has fearlessly advocated against crime and domestic violence for over a decade and has worked tirelessly to collaborate with judges, faith leaders, schools, and police departments in the fight against such abuse. Throughout her career at ACCESS, she has committed herself to improving the lives of individuals and families, and oversees over 70 programs in healthcare, behavioral health, and public health. Mona also serves on a multitude of community boards, including the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities, Michigan Opioid Advisory Commission, Corewell Health East Board, Michigan School of Psychology Board of Trustees, the ACCESS/Wayne State University Research Committee, Healthy Dearborn Steering Committee, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Stakeholders Committee, Detroit Community Health Assessment Steering Committee, and is a member of the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. Mona was partner, co- creator, and site lead for ACCESS COVID-19 testing drive-thru mobile testing in partnership with Wayne State University and Wayne Health. She received her masterʼs degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2004 and has been a member of the American Psychological Association since 2006.
