Olayinka Olusola Omigbodun, FAS, FNAMed., FAMedS, MBBS (Ibadan), MPH Distinction (Leeds), FWACP (Psych), FMCPsych is Professor of Psychiatry and Provost College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. She is known for her pioneering work on the mental health of children, youth, and women in her context. She started the first Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) clinic at Nigeria’s first teaching hospital, the University College Hospital, Ibadan in 1999. From 2011 to 2020, she was founding director of the University of Ibadan’s Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CCAMH), a multidisciplinary centre for training, research, and service in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), started with a grant from a MacArthur Foundation. Through CCAMH, over 150 professionals from 14 countries in SSA have trained on a Master of Science programme in CAMH. From 2010 to 2014, Olayinka was president of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP). She was a member of the Lancet Commission for Mental Health and is a member of Lancet Commission for Adolescent Health. She is Principal Investigator of several research grants including the “Understanding the Gendered Impact of COVID-19 on Young Self-Employed Nigerian Women and Co-Producing Solutions that Foster Better Systems and Wellbeing” grant branded as Advancing Resiliency in Self-Employed young Women in Nigeria (ARISE&WIN). This is funded by the International Development Research Centre, Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. In 2019 she received the Leadership Award from the African Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and the Honorary Membership Award, from the World Psychiatric Association. In 2020 she received the International Contribution Award of IACAPAP in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the promotion of child and youth mental health in the developing world.
