Dr. Zeina Mohanna, Amel Association International, Lebanon

Zeina Mohanna has been active in the humanitarian developmental field and in academia for more than fifteen years. She is currently an Executive and Administrative Board Member with Amel Association International, strategizing, coordinating and ensuring innovation to many programs and aspects of the NGO. This includes service provision, awareness, advocacy and policy efforts in the Support to Migrants, Counter-Trafficking, support to refugees, youth leadership, women empowerment, and many others. Alongside she is teaching at the Political Sciences and Public Administration Department at the American University of Beirut (AUB) since 2015. Some of the courses taught are ‘Human rights and international relations’, ‘Civic engagement, leadership and democracy’, ‘Senior Seminar on Public Policy’, ‘Public Policy Analysis’, ‘Politics in Lebanon’, ‘Public Policy in the Legal Framework’, etc. She earned her BA in Political Sciences and a minor in Business Administration from the AUB, an MA in Human Rights and Democratization as a full scholarship awardee, and earned her PhD in Political Studies about “Citizenship and Human Rights in Lebanon”, in addition to being  a scholarship awardee for a program on “Forced Migration” from Oxford University in 2015. Her long experience in the developmental field includes working and consulting to United Nations agencies as IOM, UNFPA and OHCHR, AUB, Amel Association International of various Civil Society members and decision makers.  Her efforts include lobbying and policy impact on the national and international levels.  She has expertise in Human Rights, Citizenship, Civic Engagement, Public Policy, Emergency Preparedness and Response, strategy planning, sustainable development, women empowerment and other topics. She is currently working on migration issues, youth empowerment and counter-trafficking She is a member in the Administrative and Executive Boards of Amel Association International; a founding member of Ibtissama NGO, and the President of in the Middle Eastern Chapter of the Stars Foundation.
